Immigration "Reform"

The following is from Congressman Ron Paul's Liberty Committee:

"Reform" is one of those words that means different things to different people. So when you hear politicians and special interests tout health care reform, campaign finance reform, pension reform or education reform, you had better know what they really mean. What then does the U.S. Senate mean when it pushes immigration reform?

According to the Washington Times, "The Senate immigration bill would require that foreign construction laborers here under the guest-worker program be paid well above the minimum wage, even as American workers at the same work site could earn less." But that's not all. The Senate immigration "reform" bill would grant amnesty to illegal aliens; accelerate "family chain migration"; forgive illegal aliens for two years of back taxes; and grant in-state college tuition to illegal aliens. And that's not all.

On June 19, 2006, we joined over 35 conservative groups who signed a declaration opposing any amnesty or guest worker plans now being pushed in the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House. You can learn more about how the U.S. Senate and House define immigration reform by reading the declaration. And then call your U.S. senators and U.S. representative to tell them how you define immigration reform.
