Reagan on GW

Got this via email and thought I'd share it.

Beneath the photo from the REAGAN DIARIES is an actual quote that Reagan wrote about George "W" in his diaries, recently edited by author Doug Brinkley and published by Harper Collins:

"A moment I've been dreading. George brought his n'er-do-well son around this morning and asked me to find the kid a job. Not the political one who lives in Florida; the one who hangs around here all the time looking shiftless. This so-called kid is already almost 40 and has never had a real job. Maybe I'll call Kinsley over at The New Republic and see if they'll hire him as a contributing editor or something. That looks like easy work."

From the REAGAN DIARIES------entry dated May 17, 1986.

Didn't this comment surface a few years ago and then it was discovered to be a hoax? I don't at all remember the details, but I do remember that somebody proved that this passage is not in Reagan's diaries. I'm too lazy to look it up on Google, but did you at least double check this "too good to be true" info that you received in an e-mail?

OK, I looked it up on Snopes.com, which I apparently should have done originally. I did check it before I posted it, but only via Google - which at that time had hundreds of links to this quote itself and no verifications.

At any rate, Reagan did say it, but not in his diaries, and as a joke during an interview:
